Local Government Grants pave the way for a safer walk, ride or scoot to school!
Victorian Councils can now apply for new Victorian Government funding under the Local Government Grants Program to make it easier for families to walk, ride and scoot to school safely.
Councils can apply for $25,000 in funding to introduce road safety features for pedestrians and cyclists including bike lanes and safe crossings. There’s a total of $100,000 in funds up for grabs to locate and identify high risk areas in the community so that new infrastructure can be introduced.
We know that obstacles like unsafe footpaths, lack of zebra crossings and congestion in the community can often stop parents from allowing their kids to walk to school.
This funding can help councils to respond to these issues and get more kids walking, riding and scooting to and from school.
